The leader of the Taliban, Mullah Hebatullah Ahundzada, stressed on Wednesday that the fundamentalist group “does not want to have enmity with anyone” and added that “its arms are open to all Afghans”, amid complaints about exclusion of women and minorities by the new authorities.

“Afghanistan is the common home of all Afghans. We must all participate in the reconstruction of the country and we must consider it our national duty,” he said in a statement published on the occasion of the celebration of the Muslim holiday of Eid al Adha.

Ajundzada has stated that “the Islamic Emirate pays attention to education, with a special emphasis on religious and modern studies for children, and understands the importance of this and will work hard to improve it”, without making specific reference to the closure of classrooms to female students. of secondary and higher education.

“The Islamic Emirate is committed to respecting all the rights of its citizens (…) and, within the framework of the ‘sharia’, the rights of women will be guaranteed”, assured the leader of the Taliban, who maintain a very restrictive interpretation of Islamic law.

The Taliban leader has also called on the security forces to have “good intentions” in their work and to show “obedience to their officers and good behavior towards the population, avoiding arrogance (…) and maintaining harmony “.

Likewise, he stressed that “the country has been totally liberated, an Islamic government has been established and the entire nation lives in peace and friendship” after the Taliban seized power in August 2021 after the country fled from the then President Ashraf Ghani.

“This victory belongs not only to the Islamic Emirate and the mujahideen, but to the entire Afghan nation during the 20 years of jihadi, in which they suffered all kinds of difficulties until our country was liberated from the invasion,” he said, before add that the Taliban give “special attention” to “guaranteeing the country’s peace, security and development.”

In this sense, Ahundzada has guaranteed the rest of the countries that the Taliban “will not allow anyone to use the territory of Afghanistan to threaten the security of other countries.” “We also want no country to interfere in our internal affairs,” she stressed.

“Within the framework of mutual interaction and commitment, we want good diplomatic, economic and political relations with the world, including the United States, and we believe that this is in the interest of all parties,” he said, before requesting that ensure the safety of the Afghans who have been returning to the country in recent months.

On the other hand, he has called on those who “try to oppose the Islamic system and continue their conspiracies inside and outside the country to learn from the past.” “These actions are in no one’s favor. It is better to stop these evil actions and return to a comfortable life under the shadow of Islamic rule,” she warned.

The Taliban leader has also acknowledged that the Taliban “are aware of all the problems facing the population” and has advocated “strengthening the economy, rebuilding the country and solving existing problems”, something he has described as “a shared responsibility” of the authorities and the citizens.

“I am confident that our people will continue to support the Islamic system and I thank clerics, tribal leaders and community leaders who declared their support for the Islamic Emirate and made proposals and recommendations for the benefit of the people,” he said, referring to the week’s meetings. last year, in which thousands of clerics participated who gave their support to the Islamic Emirate.

In this sense, he pointed out that the clerics and the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice must “pay more attention to generating knowledge and understanding among the people regarding religious matters” and added that “every country can enjoy honor and true peace when there is no rebellion against God.
