The Taliban criticize a "biased" UN report that says the Afghan government is "repressive"

The authorities request the end of these publications alleging the principles of independence and non-interference of the United Nations

June 12 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Taliban have criticized this Sunday a United Nations Security Council report published at the beginning of the month that indicates that the Government of Afghanistan is “highly exclusive, focused on the Pashtuns and repressive.”

Among the main problems are disagreements within the Taliban leadership, a country considered a paradise for terrorists, drug trafficking by Taliban officials, the monopoly of power and the proliferation of weapons.

The Taliban spokesman Zabihulá Mujahid has indicated in a statement that the document is “biased” and is “detached from reality”, as it is “full of prejudices”. Likewise, he has considered that such writings, with accusations “unfounded and of evident hostility” are in “conflict with the principles of independence and non-interference”, for which he has asked that they be terminated.

Thus, Mujahid has communicated the “strong rejection” of the content of the report and alleges that the authors appear to “do not have access to information” or “deliberately distort the facts.”

In addition, he has assured that the relations of the Afghan Executive with neighboring countries “is expanding day by day” and that the cultivation and trafficking of narcotics “has been reduced without precedent”: “The latest reports from the international media are clear proof of it”.

“The Islamic Emirate emphasizes that the publication of such biased and unsubstantiated reports by the Security Council does not help Afghanistan or international peace and security, but increases concern among the people, doubts about the independence and impartiality of the United Nations, as well as the damage to its credibility and reputation,” the Taliban spokesman concluded.
