It seems that the system restore tool in Windows 11 is causing some serious problems, Well, as some users who have had to use it have noticed, they have found that, once the process is finished, several native Windows apps were not working.
As we read in Microsoftthis appears to be due to the KB5023152 update, and affects applications that use the MSIX packaging formata format that was introduced in 2019 to optimize the installation of applications from the store, and that it has also been used in the programs that come by default with Windows.
Among the programs affected by this bug, we find the Notepad, Paint, Office or the Terminal, but functions like Cortana also stop working. Also, Microsoft explains that this is not a complete list, and that any application with MSIX packaging is susceptible to this problem.
For now, if we have this problem, Microsoft recommends trying again to start the application, reinstall it, or use Windows Update, but for now there is no definitive solution to the problem, nor is it indicated if uninstalling the update would prevent this problem.
