The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has revalidated his mandate in the country this Sunday after winning the second round of the presidential elections this Sunday, as announced by the Supreme Electoral Council.
The announcement was made by the president of the country’s highest authority, Ahmet Yener, after validating practically all the votes received, in what is considered the final result of the elections.
In the absence of final corrections, the Supreme Electoral Council has granted Erdogan 52.1 percent of the votes to 47.9 percent for his great rival and opposition leader, Kemal Kiliçdaroglu.
The Turkish president is victorious in the closest presidential elections since he first took office in 2014 and after two editions in which he achieved direct victory by collecting more than 50 percent of the votes in the first round.
The electoral authority’s announcement comes after Erdogan declared victory in front of his supporters and Kiliçdaroglu publicly admitted defeat in front of his supporters.
