The Supreme Court is preparing to settle a tax war that has been going on for more than a decade between the Treasury and the broadcaster Carlos Herrera. The Litigation Chamber will study next week whether between 2006 and 2007 the morning host of COPE, then on Onda Cero, wrongly paid hundreds of thousands of euros of Corporate Tax through a “business network”. or if, as Herrera alleges and explains a favorable sentence, it has been the Treasury that has calculated everything wrongly without him or his companies having committed any irregularity. The National Court agreed with the journalist, who did not want to comment, when asked by this newspaper, and it was the State Attorney’s Office that appealed, understanding that this doctrine could be “seriously harmful” to public interests. From the journalist’s environment they emphasize that he has not been sanctioned nor does he owe any money to the Treasury.
