The Supreme Court of Mali has issued an arrest warrant against a former prime minister, two ministers and the director of a bank for alleged crimes of embezzlement in the purchase of military equipment that was never delivered to the Malian Army.
This was reported by the judicial body last Thursday, when it issued an international arrest warrant against the former Prime Minister and former Minister of Economy and Finance of Mali Boubou Cissé, the former Minister of Defense Tiéman Hubert Coulibaly, the also former Minister of Economy and Finance Mamadou Diarra , and the former director of the Mali Solidarity Bank (BMS-SA) Babaly Bah.
“To the honor of informing the national and international public opinion of the following: After the opening by the Supreme Court of Mali of a judicial investigation of the facts qualified as the crime of forgery, attack on public property and complicity in these crimes (. ..) an international arrest warrant is issued against the following people,” reads the statement issued by the Malian Supreme Court.
The facts for which the former officials and the former president of the Malian bank are accused are related to the Paramount case, for which they would have irregularly allocated more than 44 million euros that should have financed a new presidential plane, as well as the supply to the Malian Armed Forces of a large batch of clothing, food, vehicles and spare parts, as reported by Mali Web.
Boubou Cissé was Prime Minister of Mali between 2019 and 2020, and Economy Minister between 2016 and 2019, and Tiéman Coulibaly was Defense Minister between 2015 and 2016, according to the aforementioned newspaper.
