The Sudanese Armed Forces condition any negotiations on the dissolution of the RSF

15 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Sudanese Armed Forces have warned this Saturday that there will be no negotiations with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) until this group is dissolved.

“There will be no negotiation or dialogue as long as the RSF paramilitaries are not dissolved,” the Sudanese Armed Forces General Staff explained on its official page on the Facebook social network.

The text also refers to the RSF disparagingly as the “Hemedti’s rebel militia” in reference to the group’s leader, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, alias ‘Hemedti’.

The head of the General Staff of the Sudanese Armed Forces and ‘de facto’ leader of the country, Abdelfatá al Burhan, has thus blamed ‘Hemedti’ for leading the RSF to war by attacking the Army with the aim of seizing power, for which he has described the group as “rebel”. “We regret where he has come to the country because of the RSF rebels,” he wrote.

The top Sudanese military officer has explained in subsequent statements to Al Arabiya that the RSF tried to take control of the headquarters and vital points in Khartoum “even perpetrating assassinations.” “The Armed Forces have had no other option than to confront the rebels,” he stressed.

The Army had previously reported that several RSF barracks have already surrendered to the Army, citing Gedaref, Kassala, Hamishkoreeb and “several bases in the capital” as examples.

The RSF, on the other hand, assure that they have taken control of the Khartoum Airport and the Merowe military base, in the north of the country, an extreme that has not been verified.
