The Spanish video game studio Tequila Works declares bankruptcy due to "prolonged market conditions"

The Spanish video game studio Tequila Works has communicated that declare bankruptcy as consequence of “prolonged market conditions“, in addition to announcing the resignation of its founders and appointing Térence Mosca as the new general director.

The company, developer of video games like Rime or Deadlightalready announced last month the cancellation of a new unannounced title they were working on. Likewise, he indicated that they would undertake a restructuring to “concentrate all efforts on the development of a single title”, in addition to reduce studio staff.

Now, the new general director of Tequila Works, Térence Mosca, has announced that the studio declares bankruptcy due to “prolonged market conditions.” Furthermore, he has also pointed out that, as a consequence, the company founders have resigned.

With all this, as Mosca pointed out in a statement collected by Games Industry.biz, will continue to do “everything possible to provide support and guidance” to their teams during “this difficult time.”

Tequila Works founded in 2009 and later, in 2013, it published Rime, one of its best-known games based on adventure and platform experiences where the settings are the protagonists.
