Sateliot, a Spanish company dedicated to managing nanosatellite constellationshas become part of the ether project promoted by the European Union (EU). The objective of this consortium is to create a 6G smart network both spatial –with satellites– as terrestrial -fiber and antennas- based on Artificial Intelligence.
6G technology, which in the long term will replace 5G -still in the deployment phase-, grants speeds of more than 100 Gbps, ten times higher than what 5G achieves. By putting this bandwidth black on white, you could download two movies in HD format in less than a second.
It is expected that these networks will begin to become popular, somewhat timidly and not at full capacity, in approximately a decade, with the first practical cases around 2027.
6G technology will enhance the holographic communications (calls with three-dimensional images), the Artificial intelligencethe extended reality and will provide very low consumption levels.
It is about creating an air-ground network based on 6G that is capable of moving Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning systems by land and air (neural networks, Artificial Intelligence capable of learning by itself)
The Spanish company will participate in the project allowing the connection of the European systems to its satellite network. The ultimate goal is to create a 6G-based air-ground network capable of moving Artificial Intelligence systems by land and air and Machine Learning (They are neural networks, Artificial Intelligence capable of learning by itself).
Apart from Sateliot, the consortium is made up of a total of 13 partners from 10 countries (UK, Cyprus, Poland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Greece, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland). Participating organizations include specialized industry companies (Collins Aerospace, Orange Polska and Avanti Communications), universities (University of Luxembourg, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Linkoping University of Sweden), research centers (i2CAT, National Center for Demokritos Scientific Research) and SMEs (Ubiwhere, Nearby Computing, Net Ai Tech and Martel Innovate). The system will also allow cloud services and take advantage of the arrival of new devices beyond the current tablets, computers and mobiles.
Sateliot is also working on the 5G network that will provide Internet of Things (IoT) satellite services in the old continent, where terrestrial infrastructures do not reach
ether
The meaning of Ether is sElf-evolving terrestrial/non-Terrestrial Hybrid n E two R ks, a project integrated into the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation program, with a public-private investment of 1,800 million euros. The objective is for the EU to lead and have technological sovereignty in this sector.
Jaume Sanpera, founder and CEO of Sateliot, highlights that “the integration of Sateliot in Ether responds to the company’s strategy of contributing its knowledge to the technological advances that will occur in the space industry and that will undoubtedly revolutionize the way we have to communicate.
Sateliot is also working on the 5G network that will provide the old continent with Internet of Things (IoT) satellite serviceswhere terrestrial infrastructures do not reach.
