The Spanish-speaking players of EVE Online have had to wait nearly 20 years, but they have finally achieved it: the space MMO developed by CCP Games offers a translation and localization into Spanish from today. The Spanish translation, available on the Tranquility server, goes live with a soft-launch and the objective of adjusting the work until a final version that should be released during the last quarter of 2022. The community has collaborated in this process and CCP Games hopes that it will continue to do so.

“European Spanish lays the groundwork, but the goal is to faithfully incorporate the shared terminology and culture that you, as part of the Spanish-speaking EVE community, have developed over the course of EVE,” explains CCP Games. With that in mind, we have collaborated with a number of Spanish players to make this happen and would like to thank DR4GONS, Juvenius, Orik Kado, Rei Arzi, IcyMind Arierep, Vizary Stahl and Juno Swanteisger for their invaluable help. The Tranquility release consists of a partially translated EVE Online client.

“EVE is gearing up to enter its third decade and we couldn’t do it without adding the most requested languages from fans,” says Bergur Finnbogason, creative director of EVE Online at CCP Games. “Our wonderful and super engaged Spanish-speaking community has fought hard to play the game they love in their language, and we’re just as happy as they are that it’s now that way. Our Hispanic community plays a vital role in the EVE Online ecosystem, and we are delighted to work with them to shape their language localization in the game. We look forward to many more Spanish-speaking travelers joining us in the far reaches of space.”

For those who don’t know, EVE Online is a space MMO whose universe is made up of more than 7,000 solar systems and almost 20 years of history. The title offers various experiences, from PvP or PvE battles to mining, exploration and industry. It all begins by stepping into the shoes of a pod pilot capable of commanding over 350 customizable starships, from frigates to battleships and freighters. The title can be accessed for free or through a subscription called Omega that for 19.99 euros per month offers multiple advantages. EVE Online also sells item packs.
