The Somali Army has carried out this Friday an air strike together with international partners against members of the terrorist group Al Shabaab in the town of Jamame, located in the southern region of Jubbada Hoose, amid the rebound in offensives against the extremist formation .
According to information collected by the Somali news agency SONNA, the military operations took place in a 14-kilometre section at around 6:15 p.m. (local time), although the number of dead or wounded is unknown at this time.
This occurs after the Somali authorities have announced this Friday the death of a senior official of the terrorist group Al Shabaab, linked to Al Qaeda, in the framework of another operation carried out in the Galgaduud region (center).
The deputy commander of the 16th Danab special forces battalion, Mohamed Hasan Abukar, has detailed that the dead man is Ali Ahmed Guure, alias ‘Ali Qoyane’, who had previously been sentenced to death in absentia by a Somali military court on terrorism charges. .
Somalia has in recent months increased its offensives against Al Shabaab, linked to Al Qaeda, with the support of clans and local militias as part of a series of decisions taken by the president, Hasan Sheikh Mohamud, who promised upon taking office to put the fight counterterrorism at the center of its efforts to stabilize the African country.
