The Sims will offer with project Rene a complementary experience on PC and mobile

Rene Project, the next generation of The Sims, commitment to the multiplatform, with a complementary experience on computers and mobiles, and a collaborative multiplayer mode that will leave room for the solo experience.

The next generation of The Sims meet their early stages of developmentwith some initial testing with a small group of players, whose experience will help shape the final game.

“We still have a long road ahead to make the Rene project incredible”, said the game’s director, Grant Rodiek, in a new chapter of Behind The Sims. To do this, they wanted involve players from the beginningwith tests of small fragments of the game that help to discover how it works, what is fun and what is wrong, to improve.

In one of them, these tests focused on the personalization of apartments, with the novelties that it will bring construction modewhich usually allows you to buy furniture and other elements and place them in a room.

One of the elements that EA and Maxis advanced in October about the Rene project was the customization capacity that the video game would offer. With furniture, for example, you can select one in particular, such as a sofa or a table, and choose the design, material, color, sizeetc.

The test also included a multiplayer mode that for the first time will allow fans of The Sims to play with other people. In the test, they were able to experience what’s new in Construction mode with more players in real time. “Anything created can be shared, transferred, downloaded,” Rodiek assures.

All this will be available both on computer and mobilewhich reinforces the multiplatform commitment that the development studio has for this video game, despite the “great challenge” it entails.

However, the experience will be complementary, not identical, as the game director has anticipated. On the computer you can experience “full immersion”, play for hours, customize each piece of furniture, while on mobile you can, for example, work with archetypes, preselect templates or manipulate objects that have already been created.

“What this means is that you can now play The Sims wherever you are, without barriers. […]The idea is that we can customize each platform according to the style of play, the person, what they are doing and when,” he explains.

Rodiek has also delved into the multiplayer experience, which he says will allow you to play solo but also with other people in the new multiplayer mode, especially to create. But he has qualified that “It’s not an MMO.” It explains that the user can play alone, with his own rules, and when he feels like it, invite others to play with him.
