The Security Council will discuss Israel's attack on Iran this Monday

MADRID 27 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The United Nations Security Council will discuss this weekend’s attack by Israel against several military positions in three provinces of Iran this coming Monday.

The attack, conceived by Israel as retaliation for the Iranian bombing of its territory in October, left at least four Iranian soldiers dead and material damage to military installations in the provinces of Tehran, Khuzestan and Ilam.

The Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has ended up sending a formal letter to the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, to denounce the attacks and request an urgent meeting of the Security Council, the highest executive body of the United Nations “with the objective to address this serious violation and these illegal actions and ensure the accountability of this criminal regime,” referring to Israel.

Finally, diplomatic sources have confirmed to the Al Jazeera network that the meeting will finally take place this Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. (local time in New York, 8:00 p.m. in mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands) thanks to the support of China, Russia and Algeria.
