Information technology is not going through its best moments, the market is in recession after a few good years with record sales. So much so that manufacturers are cutting production even just launched. We recently saw how tablet sales fell more than 8%but Chromebooks raised this number up to 34% less of units sold. Now too see in TrendForce than laptops will continue on this path in 2023.
Laptop sales for the last quarter of 2022 do not bode well, specifically 42.9 million units sold are expected, which is 7.2% less that in the third quarter of this year and until 32.3% less annually. These figures are even below sales before the pandemic. In total, it is expected that by 2022 they will have sent 189 million laptops, 23% less year-on-year that you leave the worst figures in 10 years.
In addition, a recovery in the laptop market is not expected in 2023, with a reduction in shipments of almost 7%a total of 176 million units. This is also due to a slower growing economy next year that will make this holiday season one of the toughest in a long time.
