The Russian deputy foreign minister confesses his skepticism about his promises to quickly end the war, which he sees as pure “rhetoric” MADRID Nov. 9 () –
The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergei Riabkov, has assured that his country is willing to listen to future proposals from the president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, to end the war in Ukraine but he has already warned the next president that there is “no easy solution” due to constant American assistance to kyiv and the suspicion that Trump’s intentions are nothing more than electoral rhetoric.
“If there is any sign from the United States that they have ideas about how to move towards a solution, short of continuing to pump the kyiv regime with all kinds of assistance to achieve strategic defeat of Moscow, then we will certainly do everything we can. to analyze it and give a response,” the Deputy Foreign Minister has made known.
The Deputy Foreign Minister has confirmed in this regard that communications with the US, despite the icy moment that relations are going through, are by no means closed. “We periodically exchange certain signals through closed channels with different degrees of intensity depending on the need, but everything works correctly, it cannot be said that the lines of communication are cut,” he explained.
Riabkov has asked that, through these channels, the second Trump administration demonstrate “actions” in pursuit of a rapprochement despite the skepticism that the figure of the magnate and former president of the country provokes.
“We know him from his previous race to power and we believe that some of his promises, in which he spoke of a quick resolution of the situation in Ukraine, are nothing more than rhetoric,” the deputy minister said in statements collected by the news agency. Russian Interfax news.
“It is clear that there cannot be a simple solution to this problem or to the problems associated with what is happening in Ukraine and its surroundings,” the deputy minister indicated before reiterating that, right now, Moscow only conceives of an end to the war in their own terms.
“The US administration must take these signals very seriously, both the outgoing and future administrations. There is no type of opportunism here and our interests do not depend on who occupies the Oval Office of the White House,” the vice minister concluded.
