The Council of the Duma has approved this measure during a meeting held this Wednesday, which also plans to include restrictions to prevent the “illegal use” of these objects, as reported by the head of the Information Policy Committee of the Lower House, Alexander Jinshtein, pick up the Interfax agency.
“I hope we can prepare a package of necessary bills as soon as possible,” said the Russian parliamentarian, who stressed that the lack of legislation “against the growth of sabotage attacks with drones” is a “particularly alarming” issue “.
According to Jinshtein, the deputies of the four State Duma commissions had asked the speaker of the Lower House, Viacheslav Volodin, to create a working group to address the situation given the growing concern about drones, even more so in the war context in which the country lives.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Tuesday that it had intercepted up to eight unmanned aerial vehicles in Moscow, and accused Ukraine of carrying out an attack on Russian territory, a claim that the Ukrainian authorities denied from the outset.
At the beginning of May, Moscow also denounced a drone attack against a Kremlin building and whose objective was to end the life of Russian President Vladimir Putin. After this, the Russian authorities prohibited the use of drones in various parts of the country.
Drone attacks are also common in regions bordering Ukraine, especially Belgorod, even more so after the outbreak of the war in Eastern Europe, which began more than fifteen months ago, at the end of February 2022, by order of President Putin himself. .
