It is expected that the new NVIDIA RTX 5000 with Blackwell GPUs will be announced at CES 2025, and now, a new leak from Wccftech has revealed some details of the three models that will arrive first: The RTX 5090, RTX 5080 and RTX 5070.
The RTX 5090 will use the trimmed Blackwell GB202 GPU, instead of the full model with its 192 SMs and 24,576 CUDA Cores, we will have 170 SMs and 21,760 CUDA Cores.
The difference with the RTX 5080, since this high-end model will be much more limited than its older sister and will be based on the GB203. Even without cuts, this GPU will only have 84 SMs and, therefore, 10752 CUDA Cores, less than half that of the RTX 5090. It seems that NVIDIA does not want these GPUs to compete with each other, and the RTX 5090 will offer, at least on paper, much superior performance.
The most modest model of the first series of RTX 5000 graphics will be the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070, a GPU that should be based on the GB205 GPU. It has not yet been revealed if it will use a trimmed version, in any case, this entire GPU offers 50 SMs with 6,400 CUDA Cores.
As for memory, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 will have a total of 32GB GDDR7 memory with a 512-bit data interface. Its operating speed will be 28 Gbps to achieve a bandwidth of 1,792 GB/s. Of course, his TBP will be beastly, only needing the 600 W graphics card.
The RTX 5080 will drop to 16GB of GDDR7 with a 256-bit interface and a higher speed of 32Gbps. In any case, its bandwidth drops to 1,024 GB/s and its TDP to high levels. 400W
The RTX 5070, finally, will have 12 GB GDDR7 at 28 Gbps and with 192 bits, which gives it a bandwidth of 672 GB/s. Your TBP stays at 250W
