The Saudi Arabian authorities announced this Wednesday that King Salman bin Abdulaziz has now recovered from the lung infection he has suffered in recent days, which led to his admission on Sunday to undergo medical tests.

The Saudi Royal House has indicated that the monarch “has completed the medical tests related to lung inflammation today, Wednesday” and has stressed that “he has recovered, thank God,” according to the Saudi state news agency, SPA. . “May God protect the Custodian of the Two Mosques and give him health and well-being,” he noted.

The statement was published just one day after the Saudi crown prince, Mohamed bin Salmán, conveyed a message of calm about the health of the king, whose few public appearances have fueled speculation about his state of health for years.

Bin Abdulaziz has occupied the Saudi throne since 2015, although in recent years he has participated in fewer and fewer public events, with most of the affairs in the hands of his son, Bin Salman, crown prince since 2017 and considered the ‘de facto’ leader. of the country.

The king underwent surgery in 2020 to remove his gallbladder, while in 2022 he underwent “tests” and the replacement of his pacemaker battery. Likewise, he spent about a week hospitalized to “rest.”
