Bob “Slim” Dunlap, best known for his time with the Replacements, has passed away.
He was 73 years old.
His family told him Minnesota Star Tribune who died at home surrounded by his loved ones.
“We played him his CD ‘Live at the Turf Club (‘Thank You Dancers!)’, and he left us shortly after hearing his rather moving version of ‘Hillbilly Heaven,’” the family’s statement to the newspaper read. “It was a natural drop over the past week. “Overall, it was due to complications from his stroke.”
Dunlap was known as the “replacement replacement” according to Rolling Stone. He joined the band in 1987 and played guitar with the group until 1991. The site said he suffered a stroke in 2012 that left him paralyzed.
Rolling Stone said that after After the band broke up in 1991, Dunlap pursued a solo career and released two solo albums.
