The Rimac Nevera crushes the Tesla Model S Plaid and is crowned as the fastest electric car in production

Rimac has announced that the Nevera, its hypercar with more than 1,900 horsepower, has reached a top speed of 412 km/h, which makes it a the fastest production car in the world. In this way, the vehicle of the Croatian firm far exceeds the official and unofficial tests carried out with the Tesla Model S Plaid.

The speed record for the Nevera was set on October 28 at the Automotive Testing Papenburg track in Germany. It is one of the few tracks in the world that allow speeds of over 400 km/h. Precisely, one of its main qualities are two 4 km straight lines that allow acceleration to be maximized.

Refrigerator, the fastest in the world (and above the Model S Plaid)

The Croatian firm explains that its head of Development Test, Miro Zrnčević, took the wheel of the car in the test. The pundit’s idea was to get the perfect entry into the straight to give yourself the best possible chance of reaching the top speed that, up to that point, it had only been reached in simulators. Fortunately the test was a success.

The test pilot knew how to push the Rimac Nevera propulsion system and its aerodynamic construction to the limit to reach 412 km/h. The car, in order to reach this milestone, was stripped of software settings that limit top speed to 352kph, as well as being fitted with Michelin Cup 2R tyres.

As we can see in the video, the test data was measured by a Racelogic V-Box system with GPS to give maximum precision. “Traveling at 412 km/h means traveling at a third of the speed of sound.. Achieving that alone in a road car is incredibly complex,” Zrnčević said after the test.

In relation to the superiority of the Refrigerator compared to the Model S Plaid, let’s see what tests the latter has been subjected to taking into account the 412 km/h record of the Croatian car. At the end of 2021, Tesla did an official test at the Nürburgring with his most ambitious car reaching a top speed of 269 km/h, the highest ever.

Some time later, however, released “Track Mode” for the Model S Plaid. Under this new feature, the car’s top speed increased to 282 km/h. In the middle of this year, this car model underwent an unofficial test in which the software speed restriction was removed, allowing you to push it to the limit.

The person in charge of carrying out the test was Guillaume André, the CEO of Ingenext, a company that sells modules that unlock functions in Tesla cars. The engineer accelerated his Tesla Model S Plaid at full throttle at Trois-Rivieres Airport in Quebec, Canada reaching a speed of 347.6 km/h.

Tesla has made a decision about its autonomous driving (and it does not go through radars or sensors)

So far this is the speed record for the Tesla Model S Plaid, although of course, to achieve it he also replaced the factory brakes with larger ones from Mountainpass Performance and put on Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. It should be noted that the Refrigerator is delivered to customers with a speed limit of 352 km/h.
