November 14 (Portaltic/EP) –
The video game journalist and organizer of the Summer Game Fest and The Game Awards, Geoff Keighleyhas transferred his impressions on the return of the E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) and has indicated that he does not see it as a competition for your ‘gaming’ event.
This has been pronounced in a interview for VideoGames.siwhere he has admitted having curiosity as to where publishers will choose to feature their reveals next year and has briefly commented on what will happen in the next edition of the awards that it organizes.
With only a month to go before the Game Awards 2022, which will take place on December 8, Geoff Keighley has highlighted being “very excited” with some of the points that the program includes, although it has been thought to have a shorter duration as he explained.
As he has transferred in the interview, the great awards event, in which there will be “more than 50 video games involved” will be broadcast live to a selected audience. About 1,000 people will be in the room while the show is airing and you will be able to react live to the announcements and awards.
“It will be the most cinematic spectacle the team has ever madesignificantly more staged and backed by a live orchestra,” Keighley added.
On the other hand, he has assured to be “very focused” on the next edition of the annual video game event Summer Game Fest and, at the same time, feeling “very good” thanks to the momentum behind what it is creating with all its partners.
About the event he organizes, the journalist has admitted not having announced many details about what they will do for 2023, but he has assured that his plans are “only going to grow”.
These words come after four years since the last E3, since those of 2020 and 2021 were canceled due to the pandemic and the 2021 event was held exclusively in digital format.
With the confirmation of the return of this event for next year, there have been rumors about possible tensions between the two video game conferences.
In this sense, Keighley has indicated that there is a lot of expectation regarding what ReedPop, the new organizer of E3, will do with the video game meeting in next year’s edition.
Likewise, he has suggested that E3 is not a competition, that it is a renowned event and that, in his opinion, he has to answer questions such as what will be the experience that fans of ‘gaming’ are going to get or what is going on to really consist of this meeting.
Thus, the organizer of the Summer Game Fest has downplayed the comparisons between the two events and has underlined the commitment they have since Summer Game Fest to do something “really big” during the summer by working with game companies.
“It’s about a time of year. People use the E3 brand because we’ve known it for 20 years, but to me, it’s just video game news that happens in June,” Keighley said.
