The open survey registered more than 460 responses, from 15 Caribbean countries and English-speaking countries in Latin America. Most of the respondents self-identified as representatives of the public and private sectors, and academia. In addition, the participation of NGOs, international organizations and civil societies was also registered. The participation of men and women was almost equal.
Participants were asked to choose the three most relevant actions in the water sector that they believe are necessary in the Caribbean region. Regarding the responses, the main focus was the strengthening of governance and the institutional system towards the Integrated Management of Water Resources (IWRM). Increasing resilience and adaptation to climate change (extreme events and sea level rise) was the second most popular preference, with ensuring sustainable groundwater management highlighted as a third priority.
