The rapporteur for human rights in Palestine criticizes the media for "hiding the Israeli atrocities" in Amsterdam

MADRID 10 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The UN special rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albanese, attacked the Western media this Saturday for being complicit with Israel, following the incidents recorded in the capital of the Netherlands, Amsterdam, between a group of pro-Palestinian protesters. and fans of the Tel Aviv Maccabi soccer team.

“Once again, the Western media should be investigated for the role they play in hiding Israel’s atrocities,” Albanese said in a post on his X social network account.

In this regard, the United Nations rapporteur has criticized the double standards of international justice and has argued that, “in other contexts”, they have pointed out “media figures as responsible for complicity, incitement and other crimes.”

The incidents to which Francesca Albanese alludes broke out after a match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax, played at the Johan Cruijff Arena stadium, in whose surroundings dozens of pro-Palestinian demonstrators had gathered to protest against the fact that the Israeli team continues to compete and has not been excluded as a result of the military offensive launched against the Gaza Strip.

Following these events, the Dutch Prime Minister, Dick Schoof, has conveyed to the Israeli Foreign Minister, Gideon Saar, that the Jewish community can feel safe after the riots that occurred on Thursday in Amsterdam and has asserted that his Executive “is doing everything he can to ensure that the Jewish community in (his) country feels safe.
