The Socialists propose “the opening and use of school facilities outside school hours, as well as during vacation periods and in summer, offering sports, cultural and leisure activities, accessible to the entire population, especially for those families with fewer resources” , details the document, which consists of 80 measures.
The tenth point of the program is the one that the PSOE dedicates to the opening of schools on vacation, appealing to “equal opportunities, equity and quality”, in a document that talks about sustainability, green spaces and the city known as of the 15 minutes, among other issues.
An initiative already proposed by Juan Lobato in Madrid
The measure to open schools in summer is particularly noteworthy, taking into account that the Madrid Socialist Party has already proposed something similar – open schools from 7 in the morning to 7 in the afternoon and from September 1 to September 31. July – in favor of conciliation; and the initiative, raised last September, was received with some surprise.
“Young people from Madrid will be able to aspire with real means to have children and to reconcile their professional careers and family life, especially women who in practice suffer greater limitations,” said Juan Lobato, leader of the Socialist Party of Madrid and now a candidate for the regional presidency. “I am the father of three little ones and I assure you that, like the rest of the fathers and mothers, what I like the most in this life is being with them. Other initiatives that the PSOE now proposes for the educational centers of the municipalities in which it governs have to do with the fight against bullying –from LGBTIphobia to racism– and the detection of situations of gender and/or vicarious violence nearby. to the students through tutor agents of the Local Police.
As regards work-life balance, opening schools in non-school seasons is the only measure contemplated in the current Framework Program presented by the Socialists.
