The PSOE has Zapatero call homes to ask for the vote on 9-J

A telephone recording is going around the houses of half of Spain these days: “Hello, I’m José Luis Zapatero. I ask you that on Sunday we go to vote…”. The former Spanish president campaigns for PSOEwhose candidacy for the European elections this Sunday headed by the third vice president, Teresa Riberawith a tool that the party has already used on other occasions.

The one who was a tenant of Moncloa between 2004 and 2011 asks in his messageaccording to ‘ABC’, “a vote with strength, with conviction, a vote in favor of democracy, gender equality, social rights, because we want for Europe the same thing that we have defended for Spain, because we know that in democracy it has to be imposed concord, coexistence, peace, in the face of hatred, insults, extremism.” And he continues to assure that “We have this great opportunity, on Sunday, to once again validate this Spain of the future, this Spain of rights, this social Spain, this Spain that does not want the extreme right, that does not want to look at the past and that wants to bet on the future, for Europe”. The former president ends up asking for “a vote for the PSOE.” Not a single mention of Ribera.

The message sent by the socialists emerges two internal scenarios. On the one hand, the growing role that the former president is having in the electoral campaign, in search of a positive effect that already gave good results on 23-J; on the other, the displacement of Pedro Sanchez as the main actor, trying to avoid the rejection that his figure may represent at this time by the many scandals that surround you.
