The process of preparing the Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development 2050 of the State of Quintana Roo, Mexico, advances with the collaboration of ECLAC

The Latin American and Caribbean Institute for Economic and Social Planning (ILPES) of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) participated, from October 21 to 25, in three activities linked to the preparation of the Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development 2050 (PEDS) of the State of Quintana Roo in Mexico.

The PEDS 2050 constitutes the first planning instrument of the State, prepared with citizen participation criteria established by law and with a gender and intercultural perspective and is carried out within the framework of the commemoration of the 50 years of the birth of Quintana Roo as a State free and sovereign of Mexico.

Subsequently, the Institute organized and coordinated a collaborative public leadership workshop for 55 representatives of the State Government, municipal governments, academia and civil society, who are part of the PEDS Coordinating Core Group. This activity was carried out at the Chetumal Technological Institute.

Finally, ILPES participated in the facilitation of a territorial workshop in the southern part of the State, in the municipality of José María Morelos, in which 35 representatives from the municipalities of José Maria Morelos, Felipe Carillo Puerto, Bacalar and Othón P participated. White. This activity took place at the Intercultural Maya University.

In the three events, the importance of strengthening technical, operational, political and prospective (TOPP) capacities for the construction and implementation of sustainable and inclusive territorial development plans was highlighted.
