The Prime Minister of Kuwait, Ahmed Nauaf al Ahmed al Sabá, eldest son of the emir Nauaf al Ahmed al Sabá, presented the resignation of his cabinet on Monday, after disputes with the Parliament led by the opposition.
The country’s Council of Ministers has delivered the letter of resignation to the crown prince, Mishal al Ahmed al Jaber al Sabá, citing a “deadlock” on various issues during the legislative assembly.
“The minister has expressed his confidence in the wisdom of His Highness Sheikh Mishal to take the necessary measures in line with the highest priorities of the National Assembly,” reads the letter, collected by the KUNA news agency.
The Kuwaiti ‘premier’ was sworn in in October together with his new Executive after the elections on September 29 with the intention of resolving the latest clash between the Executive and the Chamber, dissolved days before by order of the crown prince after denouncing “political tears internal for personal interests”.
This tug of war is one more episode of the usual tension between the Kuwaiti executive and legislative branches in a country that has granted Parliament more important powers than other of its neighbors.
