The presidents of nine Eastern European countries, all of them members of NATO, have condemned this Saturday in a joint statement the annexation of Ukrainian territories by Russia.
“We reiterate our support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. We do not and will never recognize Russian attempts to annex Ukrainian territory,” the leaders stressed in the text.
The statement recalls that the leaders of these countries have visited kyiv during the war and have seen “with their own eyes the effects of Russian aggression.” “We cannot remain silent in the face of a flagrant violation of International Law by the Russian Federation”, they have riveted.
Thus, they call on Russia to “immediately withdraw” from all “occupied” Ukrainian territories and encourage the other members of the Atlantic Alliance to “substantially increase their military aid to Ukraine.” “All those who have committed crimes of aggression must be held accountable and brought to justice,” the text concludes.
The document is signed by the presidents of the Czech Republic, Milos Zeman; Estonian, Alar Karis; Latvia, Egils Levits; Lithuania, Gitanas Nauseda; North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski; Montenegro, Milo Dukanovic; Poland, Andrzej Duda; Romania, Klaus Iohannis, and Slovakia, Zuzana Caputová.
