MADRID Dec. 17 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The representative of the Presidential Council of Libya, Musa al Koni, called this Monday for the creation of a Libyan advisory team of independent experts so that the Libyan people direct the political management of the country, after the acting head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Stephanie Koury, will present a new ‘roadmap’ to end the political crisis in Libya, which has two parallel administrations.
“While we value the efforts of UNSMIL and the proposals it has presented to the Security Council today, we underline the need for the Libyans to take ownership of the management of the political track with the support of the United Nations and to form an advisory team of independent and non-controversial experts to formulate proposals that address pending political and electoral issues,” he expressed through his profile on the social network X.
For their part, several members of the House of Representatives have asked the UN mission to stop international interventions and respect the sovereignty of the Libyan State and its right to self-determination “far from external dictates”, as stated the LANA news agency.
Currently, Libya is divided into two administrations after the House of Representatives, based in the east of the country, terminated the mandate of Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibé due to the postponement of the presidential elections in December 2021 and appoint Fazi Bashaga to the position, suspended from office and replaced by Osama Hamad.
