South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol will visit the White House to meet his US counterpart Joe Biden for a state visit on April 24.
The White House has announced that Yoon’s wife, Kim Keon Hee, will also attend in what is the second state visit of the Biden Administration and the first by a leader from the Pacific region, at a time when tensions in the area are at a peak.
“(The visit) will reinforce the ironclad alliance between the United States and South Korea, which has grown well beyond the Korean Peninsula and is now a positive force throughout the Pacific region and around the world,” the US statement read. .
The leaders will discuss their joint vision for a bilateral alliance that maintains peace, stability and prosperity, and during the trip they will visit the Korean War Memorial in Washington DC.
