The president of South Africa finalizes the reshuffle of his cabinet after his success in the internal revalidation of his party

March 5 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, is finalizing a series of changes in his Council of Ministers that could be announced tonight at the earliest, according to the City Press portal, citing sources close to the proceedings.

For now, Ramaphosa has finished his consultations and was now briefing the new additions in line with the president’s results after winning a second term as president of the ruling African National Congress in December, at a congress where several of the president’s allies were elected to senior party officials.

Vice President David Mabuza tendered his resignation from parliament earlier this month ahead of the cabinet reshuffle.

The vacant post of Minister of Administration and Public Services and the new post of Minister of Electricity — Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, who heads the infrastructure office in the Presidency and is not a legislator, has serious prospects for this portfolio — are among positions to fill.

The president is also expected to name a new transport minister.
