The outgoing president of Georgia, Salomé Zurabishvili, has already left the seat of the Presidency in the country after rejecting the transfer of powers that will take place this Sunday to her successor, Mijeil Kavelashvili, chosen according to Zurabishvili and the opposition after a fraudulent and unconstitutional process.

Zurabishvili has joined the group of protesters who have gathered in front of the Orbeliani Palace, in the center of the country’s capital, Tbilisi, to protest against the ceremony.

“Society is out here. They are locked in there,” said the outgoing president about Kavelashvili and the government party, Georgian Dream, which she accuses of committing electoral fraud in the legislative elections in October, triggering the protests that have taken place. weeks shaking the country.

“With me I bring legitimacy and the flag,” added the outgoing president in her first statements after leaving the Presidency headquarters, reported by the news portal Netgazeti.

The inauguration began this Sunday at 11:00 (time in mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands) at the Parliament headquarters, on Rustaveli Street, very close to the Presidency headquarters.

This same Saturday, the opposition parties Coalition for Change, Strong Georgia, Unity-National Movement and Gajaria for Georgia have published a joint statement in which they urge the international community not to recognize the results of October 26 and reject the legitimacy of Kavelashvili , who they denounce as part of a “conspiracy” ultimately orchestrated by Moscow, accusations rejected by the Georgian Government.
