The PP of Madrid criticizes that Bolaños wants to attend the act of Dos de Mayo: "It’s a provocation"

In the absence of 48 hours for the event to take place, the PP of Madrid has already demonstrated on several occasions against the attendance of socialist representatives at the institutional act.

The candidate for the Madrid Assembly, Jesús Moreno, has described the “self-invitation” of the Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, to the institutional act of Dos de Mayo as a “provocation”, while the campaign spokesman for the Municipal Group, Borja Carabante , has declared that “you have to have very little shame to attend an institutional act to which you have not been invited”

The first part of this controversy is that the Community of Madrid has not invited the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, to the traditional event, who did not attend the last appointment. The Community has only issued an invitation to the Minister of Territorial Policy and Government spokesperson, Isabel Rodríguez, who has “the powers in relation to the autonomous communities”, as reported by Europa Press.

But Rodríguez has declined to attend. The central Executive has announced that it will be the new government delegate, Francisco Martín, who will attend along with the Minister of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory, Félix Bolaños, and the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles.

Demonstration of those affected by Metro line 7B

The second part of this controversy is that once the institutional act inside the Royal Post Office has concluded and coinciding with the civic-military parade that will be held outside, a concentration of those affected by Line 7B of the Metro in the area and that had been authorized by the Government delegate in Madrid.

The Minister of the Presidency, Justice and the Interior, Enrique López, asked Martín by letter this week to reconsider the decision. “The people of Madrid have the right to enjoy the Plaza del Sol that day in its entirety and the protesters also have the right to demonstrate, but Madrid is very big. The Community has 30 public buildings to be able to demonstrate in front of them”, said the counselor.

In response, the Government Delegation decided to move the concentration to Arenal street, specifically in the pedestrian space at the height of the San Ginés church. It is one of the streets that leads to the Plaza de la Puerta del Sol, where the headquarters of the Community of Madrid are located.

Jesús Moreno, also vice-secretary for Political Action of the PP in Madrid, has admitted that he does not know if Bolaños will finally attend the event, but he assures that “this is not the time to claim”, in reference to a possible show of support from the Minister of the Presidency to those affected by Line 7B of the Madrid metro.

Moreno has defended that all the people of Madrid must “be united and park the problems” on that day and that “there are 364 more days during the year to continue claiming and working for the interests of each one”. Bolaños visited those affected in San Fernando de Henares on February 27

The institutional celebration of Dos de Mayo

The celebration of the Day of the Community of Madrid will begin at 10 am this Tuesday with the floral offering of the Madrid leader to the Heroes of Dos de Mayo, in the Florida cemetery. Ayuso will place a laurel wreath there before the tombstone and will attend the surrender of honors by the War Band and the Honors section and a Squad of Spendadores from the Anti-aircraft Artillery Regiment.

At 11 a.m. the celebration will move to the headquarters of the regional Presidency for the delivery of the Community Medal and the decorations of the Order of Dos de Mayo, in a ceremony presided over by Ayuso and before some 800 guests.
