March 26 () –
The PP has proposed that the rate that will finance the future Financial Client Authority be reduced from 250 to 100 euros, as can be seen from an amendment of the ‘popular’ registered to the bill of this new body to which it has had access Europa Press.
This new supervisory body consists of an agency that would assume the functions of supervision and complaints between clients and financial entities, which now falls to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), the Bank of Spain and the General Directorate of Insurance and Funds of Pensions, the latter body dependent on the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
To finance itself, the Government proposes a fee of 250 euros that the bank would have to pay in the event that the new claims agency accepts the client’s complaint for processing. This is one of the issues of the new body that has raised the most criticism, both from parliamentary groups and from the Bank of Spain and the Spanish Banking Association (AEB).
With this panorama, the PP suggests that the rate be 100 euros and that, in the event that the resolution is favorable to the financial institution, the Authority proceeds to reimburse 50% of the rate to the bank. The ‘popular’ understand that the collection of a fee for the “simply fact” that the claim is admitted “may be abusive”.
OTHER GROUPS PROPOSE TO LOWER IT TO 50 EUROS
For their part, Ciudadanos, PNV, Junts and the PDeCAT have registered amendments so that the rate of 250 euros that will finance the future Financial Client Authority is reduced to 50 euros.
And it is that, according to the Basques, the 250 euros are “excessive and are not justified” in the service provided, taking into account that many claims will refer to issues on which there was an established criterion.
For its part, the PDeCAT suggests that the 250 euro fee be maintained as long as the claim is admitted and resolved favorably for the client. However, the Catalans want financial institutions to pay 50 euros on account of the eventual payment of the fee at the time the claim is admitted.
Thus, the Authority, once the claim has been resolved, will proceed to settle the rate discounting the amount deposited on account by the entity. Likewise, in the case of a favorable resolution to the bank, it will proceed to return the amount paid into the account.
