WARSAW, July 13. (DPA/EP) –
Employees of the Polish postal service will receive training in the use of weapons by Army soldiers in the context of the war in Ukraine, which began in late February by order of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to a spokesperson for the postal service in the newspaper ‘Dziennik Gazeta Polska’, the entity will sign an agreement in August with the Territorial Defense Force for the training of postal employees.
Postal service workers will learn basic safety rules for the use and handling of weapons and will also acquire “basic shooting skills”, all with the aim of improving Poland’s defensive readiness.
The Polish postal service has about 70,000 employees, of which a thousand have already reserved a place for training courses, which is voluntary.
The Polish authorities have recently taken steps to increase the strength of their Armed Forces, for example by implementing voluntary military service. The Ukrainian Army has 110,000 soldiers in addition to 30,000 agents of the Territorial Defense Force.
Warsaw’s aspirations include expanding these figures to 250,000 and 50,000 troops, respectively.
