The Mossos have dismantled in Barcelona a criminal group that sent freezers every fortnight to northern European countries in which they hid. marijuana and hashishin an operation in which a 31-year-old man has been arrested.

The Catalan police reported this Saturday that the investigation of the case, led by the Criminal Investigation Division of Sant Feliu de Llobregat (Barcelona), began in May when it was learned that in an international transport company Located in the Free Zone of the Catalan capital there was a pallet with drugs, prepared to be sent to northern Europe.

The investigators then went to the company, where they verified that drugs had been introduced into a manipulated freezer at the bottom and in the spaces that should have the foam that serves to preserve the cold.

The device contained eleven bags with marijuana budswith a total of seven kilos of this drug, and six more bags with hashish tablets that weighed five kilos. The police estimate that the value of all this merchandise on the illegal market amounts to about 70,000 euros.

The investigation also revealed that the transport company had already sent a total of fourteen similar packages every fifteen days on behalf of the same person.

The freezers They were collected in a parking lot in the Barcelona district of Horta-Guinardó and its destination was a company based in several European countries.

The shipment was prepared by a criminal group who had been operating for some time in illegal drug trafficking at an international level.

According to the Mossos, once the drugs arrived in the countries of the northern europeits sale price was multiplied by three or four, so the profits of the operation increased.

The investigation also led to three people who had manipulated the freezer inside the parking lot they had rented and where they kept the drugs, packaged them and from which they called the transport company that made the shipment to its final destination. .

In the course of the investigation, the police aborted another shipment also finding fourteen vacuum-packaged bags with 350 hashish tablets with a total weight of 35 kilos and an estimated value of 229,000 euros in the international transport company, and identified the three people who made up the criminal group.

On October 2, the agents entered and searched the parking lot where the criminal group prepared the shipments, where they found three prepared freezers already used on other occasions for drug shipments.

This week, on October 16, the police arrested one of the three men. During the search of his home, located in Mollet del Vallès (Barcelona), the police found cash, evidence of his participation in criminal acts and masks used to handle narcotic substances.

The man was brought to justice yesterday accused of drug trafficking crimes and membership in a criminal group.

The Mossos keep the investigation of the case open to locate and arrest the other two men under investigation.
