The Philippine ambassador to Argentina participates in a seminar on economic opportunities in ASEAN

Philippine Ambassador to Buenos Aires, Grace T. Cruz-Fabella, joined the others ASEAN Committee Chiefs of Mission in Buenos Aires (ACBA) in a seminar entitled “With a look at the Pacific” on March 15, 2023 at the Banco de Inversión y Comercio Exterior (BICE) Foundation.

The seminar, jointly organized by the BICE Foundation, the MERCOSUR-ASEAN Chamber of Commerce (MACC) and the ACBA, included a panel discussion on opportunities to strengthen ties between Argentina, MERCOSUR and ASEAN.

Addressing an audience made up of exporters, academics and other businessmen, Ambassador Cruz-Fabella and other members of the ACBA participated. Among them, the Thai ambassador, Krit Tankanarat; the Malaysian ambassador, Nur Azman Rahim; the Vietnamese ambassador, Thanh Duong Quoc; and Indonesia’s Chargé d’Affaires, Sasanti Nordewati, made presentations by country. The Philippines made its presentation entirely in Spanish.

Mr. José Ignacio de Mendiguren, Secretary of Industry and Productive Development of the Ministry of Economy and former president of BICE, was the keynote speaker.

He stressed: “The relationship that unites us with the countries of Southeast Asia is complementary and what we hope to achieve now is that it be balanced. If we achieve it, it will be a permanent and sustainable link. We trust that we can do it and close as many agreements as possible “.

ACBA regularly collaborates with partner institutions to publicize ASEAN and explore opportunities for closer economic and cultural cooperation.
