Biden cancels his trip to Germany to attend a new meeting in Ramstein on Ukraine due to Hurricane ‘Milton’
Oct. 8 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Pentagon has announced that Israel’s Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, has postponed his trip to Washington, where he was scheduled to meet this Wednesday with the United States Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, to discuss a possible retaliatory attack against Iran. .
The deputy spokesperson for the United States Department of Defense, Sabrina Singh, explained at a press conference that the parties will remain in contact, “either in person through a meeting, if it is scheduled for later, or by phone”.
However, Singh has not clarified why Israel has taken this decision. Israeli media suggest that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would have stopped Gallant’s visit after demanding to first speak by phone with Biden about a possible attack in retaliation against Iran for its recent missile launch.
The announcement shows the growing distance between Gallant and Netanyahu, who have been involved in several clashes over differences in how to manage the offensive since the Palestinian militias carried out the attacks against Israeli territory on October 7, 2023.
BIDEN CANCELS HIS TRIP TO GERMANY
On the other hand, the Pentagon has also confirmed that the President of the United States, Joe Biden, has canceled his trip to Germany to attend a new meeting at the US Ramstein air base, over Ukraine due to Hurricane ‘Milton’.
‘Milton’ is moving towards the state of Florida with maximum sustained winds of 230 kilometers per hour, according to the National Hurricane Center. It is considered a category four hurricane – on Monday it reached level five, the maximum – and is located about 880 kilometers from the town of Tampa.
This Tuesday, Biden urged Florida citizens who live in areas threatened by the imminent arrival of the hurricane to heed the recommendations of the authorities and evacuate as soon as possible, since “it is a matter of life or death.”
