The first advance of participation in the municipal elections this Sunday indicates that the number of voters who have gone to the polls until 2:00 p.m. has increased by more than one and a half points compared to the elections four years ago, with 36, 70% of voters in all of Spain compared to 35.10% in 2019.
Catalonia leads the drop in participation, 3.4% less than four years ago, while in the Basque Country it has dropped 1.8 points, and in the Autonomous City of Melilla, half a point less.
Among the autonomous communities where there is a greater turnout at the polls compared to four years ago, the difference in the Valencian Community stands out, with 5.17% more participation, followed by La Rioja, with 5.10% more. It has also risen 4.03 points in the Region of Murcia and just over 3 points in Aragón, Asturias, Castilla-La Mancha, Navarra, Madrid and the Balearic Islands.

Finally, the Region of Murcia has seen the number of participants rise by up to four points: 40.03%, compared to the 36% who went to the polls in 2019 before 2:00 p.m.
Nearly 35.5 million citizens are called to vote this Sunday for the representatives of some 8,100 municipalities in Spain in a very close election in which 12 autonomous governments are also renewed, in addition to the assemblies of the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla , island councils and other territorial entities.
