The Parliament of Vietnam dismisses several senior government officials for their involvement in corruption cases

The National Assembly of Vietnam has approved this Thursday the dismissal of two deputy prime ministers of the country as investigations into corruption within the Government progress.

Thus, the deputies have voted in favor of dismissing Vu Duc Dam and Pham Binh Minh, two prominent figures of the Government of the Communist Party of Vietnam, although they have not given reasons in this regard.

The country’s prime minister, Pham Minh Chinh, had previously requested the dismissal of both politicians, as reported by the VnExpress news portal. At least 476 deputies have voted in favor of the departure of both politicians, although three have abstained.

In addition, they have approved the election of Tran Hon Ha to head the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and Tran Luu Quang to occupy the party headquarters in Haiphong province.

The two senior officials had already been expelled from the party’s Central Committee. Minh, a former foreign minister, had also been dismissed as a member of the Politburo.
