The Palestinian Authority believes that the UN resolution on Gaza is "a step in the right direction"

June 10 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Palestinian Authority has stated that the resolution for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip approved this Monday in the UN Security Council is “a step in the right direction.”

“The Palestinian Presidency considers that the adoption of this resolution is a step in the right direction to stop the genocidal war against our people in the Gaza Strip,” according to the official WAFA news agency.

The Palestinian Authority thus asks “that everyone assume their responsibilities for its implementation” and recalls that it complies with its demand for “an immediate ceasefire to Israeli aggression”, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the entire Gaza Strip and the entry of humanitarian aid.

It also vetoes the forced displacement of the population and considers that the enclave is an integral part of the territory of the State of Palestine, according to WAFA.

It further supports the position of the two-state solution “in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions” and calls for a political solution that ends the occupation and leads to the creation of an independent Palestinian state.

Finally, the Palestinian Presidency conveys its “sincere gratitude” to countries such as Algeria, Arab representative on the Security Council, and Egypt and Qatar, mediators in the negotiations.
