The Palestinian Authority has asked the United Nations and the United States on Thursday for dissuasive measures in the face of Israel’s policies for crimes against Palestinians, coinciding with an escalation of tensions in the region.
Palestinian Authority President Mahmud Abbas has called on US National Security Adviser Jack Sullivan, who is in the region, to intervene “before it is too late to stop the actions of the extremist occupation government,” in reference to Israel.
Abbas has warned “of the danger of Israeli actions and their consequences”: “The Israeli occupation government is committing violations such as the intensification of the settlement, the daily assassinations, and the raiding of Palestinian towns and villages,” he accused.

For his part, Sullivan has reaffirmed the US Administration’s interest in deepening ties with the Palestinian people. “They discussed US support for peace, preserving the path toward two-state negotiations and advancing security and freedom measures for Israelis and Palestinians,” reads a White House statement.
Sullivan has also conveyed to Abbas the “need for Palestinian leaders to help reduce tensions in the West Bank and strengthen Palestinian institutions.”
