The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has conveyed its “categorical” condemnation of the “illegal annexation” of the Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions by Russia.
“The illegal annexation of the sovereign territory of Ukraine, announced today by Russian President Vladimir Putin, is unacceptable,” the agency said in a statement released this Friday after Moscow’s announcement.
The writing, signed by the president of the OSCE, Zbigniew Rau; the president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the organization, Margareta Cederfelt; her general secretary, Helga Maria Schmid; and the general secretary of the Assembly, Roberto Montella, also denounces the “continuation of the occupation of Crimea”.
For the organization, Putin’s announcement, which is “a flagrant violation of the fundamental norms of International Law, the principles of the OSCE and the Charter of the United Nations”, does nothing more than “put millions of lives at risk and cause more senseless human suffering.
Finally, the OSCE has reiterated its call to Russia to “withdraw all its forces from all over Ukraine”, while stressing its commitment to the “independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity” of Ukraine.
