In response to a call made by the president of Peru, Pedro Castillo, the Organization of American States (OAS) announced on Friday the formation of a high-level group that will analyze on the ground the situation of political governance that the Latin American nation is experiencing.
“The composition of the group was decided after the consultations carried out by the Presidency. The dates of the trip and the agenda of the high-level group on its visit to Peru will be defined shortly,” the OAS reported in a press release.
The action corresponds to an agreement of last October 20.
The Chairman of the OAS Permanent Council and Permanent Representative of Suriname to that body, Ambassador Marten Schalkwijk, made the announcement.
The group is made up of the foreign ministers of Argentina, Belize, Ecuador, Guatemala, Paraguay, Colombia and two other former ministers.
Peru is experiencing an alarming political and institutional crisis a little over a year after the start of the term of President Pedro Castillo, who has 15 impeachment petitions against him with attempts to apply the 3 regulations mandated by the Constitution, without success.
