With the recent launch of the RTX 4090we were able to know that the star graphics card of this generation was going to arrive with a consumption of 450W, although apparently the idea was not always this, because according to what we can read in ExtremeTechit seems that NVIDIA’s original idea was to turn to Samsung to manufacture this GPU, which would have come with a consumption of 600W.
This would line up with some early rumors of 600W GPU draw, with even higher values for the full card, so there might be some truth to it, and that would also explain the enormous size of the AIB cards in relation to the NVIDIA FE cards.
All of this has resulted in a side effect in the form of excellent temperatures for these cards, which can reach around 50 degrees when we are already in a scenario of high graphic demandso we shouldn’t worry on that front.
However, it is to be expected that the assemblers will not be happy about this, as they were not informed of this change – one of the reasons why EVGA has stopped working for NVIDIA -, making the development of their models more expensive.
