This report indicates that all the dead were prisoners for crimes related to theft.
On the other hand, the authorities indicate that six people are hospitalized, while their condition is favorable.
The previous balance numbered four dead and 61 wounded. Of the latter, most have been discharged after receiving health care for poisoning as a result of smoke inhalation.
The Iranian public television in Arabic Al Alam confirmed that there was a riot inside the prison and clashes between the prisoners themselves in the wings dedicated to “thugs” and robbery defendants that led to the burning of the bedding warehouse.
According to Radio Farda, the fire started in wing 7, where initially the prisoners were held during the wave of protests in 2008. However, later the majority were prisoners for financial crimes and then the “thugs”. Now there would also be political prisoners in wings 7 and 8 of the prison and that would be where a riot and then the fire would have originated, always according to Radio Farda.
