In a partially similar move to Elon Musk’s with Twitter, the newly revamped YouTube management has updated the video display network terms and conditions of use regarding the identification of channels related to famous people, making it necessary to clearly mention whether our channel is a fan account.
There are not a few cases in which a fan account of some artist on YouTube ends up having enough notoriety to look like an official accounteither on behalf of the artist, or as the artist himself, with the problems that this can cause at any time when it is necessary to contact the artist in question.
Other evasion techniquessuch as trying to impersonate the account by changing the zeros to “O” or simply putting a space inside the name so that it does not count as being the same channel, they will be strictly prohibited, something that will take effect on August 21 of this year.
These new changes should allow users of the platform to have a much more consistent and secure experience than we can currently have, especially considering YouTube’s effort to also unify the real accounts of each artist into one that users can easily find.
