It’s been a busy summer for Francis Ford Coppola and his ‘Megalopolis’: his incendiary statements about the non-woke component of the film The last gasps of the accusations of inappropriate behavior and the controversy with its advertising campaignbad reviews invented by AI and advertisers fired. There is more than half a month left until the premiere on September 27 and it seems like we still have a few more absurdities to see.
For the moment, there is one specific nonsense that is (more or less) under control: a new trailer that, this time, goes into detail about aspects of the film such as the setting, the locations and the cast. The result is simply hallucinogenic: a very pronounced theatrical component goes hand in hand with scenes with special effects or office sequences that are reminiscent of ‘The Godfather’ after a sugar indigestion.
