The authorities that have governed Syria since the fall of the Bashar al Assad regime have made official this Tuesday the appointment as the new Minister of Defense of Murhaf Abu Qasra, linked to the jihadist organization Hayat Tahrir al Sham (HTS).
The General Operations Command, which brings together the insurgency that forced the fall of Assad, has published the appointment of Abu Qasra, a native of the Hama region, in a brief statement broadcast on Telegram.
Abu Qasra joins a provisional administration formally led by Mohamed el Bashir, prime minister within a transition process for which there is still no precise calendar, beyond a first term that must conclude in March.
The leader of HTS, Ahmed Hussein al Shara, also known as Abu Mohamed al Golani and considered the main person responsible within the new political scenario, advanced last weekend in an interview that the transition could take four years.
