One of the games that Electronic Arts has in development and that fans have long awaited is skate 4which we now formally know as skateboarding. Something that caught the attention of the official revelation is that it will be free-to-play and that it would have a game-as-a-service approach, although it was made clear that it would not have an element of this type of title, loot boxes. However, clues to the contrary have just been found.
In the announcement trailer for skateboardingFull Circle, the study responsible for the project mentioned that skateboarding it would have microtransactions, but the above does not mean that it would be pay-to-win; In other words, players would not have to spend money to win, since the content unlockable with money would consist solely of cosmetic and customization accessories.

doskateboarding will it have loot boxes?
Full Circle CEO Dan McCulloch mentioned that microtransactions would not be required to unlock areas of the map, any gameplay advantages, or “any loot boxes.”
Although those were the words of the manager regarding button boxes, it is important to mention that on the screen it was specified that what in reality will not be “paid loot boxes”, which is slightly different.
We say this because this weekend an image of the Skate Beta came to light and it shows that some kind of boxes called Swag Bags will be included in the game, which will contain a “random unlockable object”, which fits in the description of a loot box or loot box.
According to the image, these Swag Bags can be bought with Taps, which apparently will be a currency that can be obtained in the game by completing “FCCC Challenges” (without spending money) and, apparently, the objects can be used to create clues or customize the player’s avatar.
Do the loot boxes in skateboarding will they cost money?
Speaking of loot boxes could be contradictory to what McCulloch mentioned about the absence of “any loot box” in skateboarding; but maybe not when we talk about “paid loot boxes”, because then it is confirmed that there will be loot boxes, but they could be obtained without spending real money, as it seems to be the case with the Swag Bags.
There aren’t many details on this yet, but there are players speculating that the game does indeed frequently offer ways to get Taps to buy Swag Boxes without spending a dime.
However, they also imagine the possibility that there is an additional way to get Taps using real money, perhaps not directly so that they speak of “paid loot boxes”, but perhaps through a Season Pass that rewards more Taps that players can exchange for Swag Bags or spend this currency on other things, as tipster Tom Henderson suggested. Thus, the premise that skateboarding will have “no paid loot boxes”.
On the other hand, it must be remembered that the tests that are being carried out are part of a “pre-pre-pre-Alpha” version of skateboardingso everything in the game right now will continue to evolve and eventually there could be major changes and even things that won’t appear in the final version.
In case you missed it: EA does not want you to download and play the unauthorized version of skate 4 that was shared on the internet.
It’s worth noting that they did say “No paid loot boxes” and this is technically correct.
It’ll be interesting to see how they monetize. My bets are on a Battle Pass where some of the tiers will be “X amount of Taps” to get around buying taps directly lol pic.twitter.com/0kcwUdlng7
